Narrative Description of Project:

The Takhtakorpu Dam is located in the Devechi Rayon at the western side of the Caspian Sea with a distance of 122 km to the capital city Baku of Azerbaijan. The purpose of the dam is irrigation and water storage for the Samur-Absheron Canal which supplies irrigation and drinking water (Baku), as well as producing energy. This dam which is of a central clay earth-fill type has a drainage area of 60 km2 and a reservoir volume of 268 hm3.The dam height is 142 m from the foundation, crest length is 1,180 m, and has a total fill volume of 25 million m3. Diversion during construction will be provided at the right bank by an open canal with a capacity of 43 m3/s. The spillway of 84 m3/sn is placed at the left bank as an ungated, concrete lined channel. Energy structures including water intake structure, gate shaft, power tunnel of 4,0 m diameter and a power station are located at the right abutment.

The power station with a maximum operation level of 183,00 m, tailwater level of 103,50 m, will produce electricity of 127 GWh per year by three Francis turbines of horizontal axis each having an installed capacity of 8,3 MW.

Description of Actual Services Provided by TEMELSU:

In regard to the Takhtakorpu Dam and HEPP Project, Temelsu has prepared all civil, hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical final design reports, final design drawings, as well as technical specifications.
