Detailed Narrative Description of Project:
The project is located in Kara-Bura district of Talas Region which is in the north-west part of the country and aims to improve water supply to existing 1685 ha of irrigated land and create new irrigation system for 1918 ha of agricultural land. Irrigation scheme located in district of Kara-Bura river system. Sarymsak magistral (main) canal passes through Kara-Mulla mountains at the foot of left slope Kara- Bura river, and the scheme is supplied water from Kara-Bura water reservoir.
This service includes: (а) review and correction of existing detailed engineer design (DED), (b) preparation of tender documentation and tender assistance and (c) construction supervision.
Consultant assignment will also include environmental impact evaluation and socio-economic verification to be carried out in the project area in order to set of basic system of monitoring and evaluation of project effect. Consultant is also expected to prepare Operation Management and Maintenance (OM&M) Manuals for the upgraded Sarymsak Irrigation network. In addition, overall administrative support to Client in project management, including training of the staff of Executing Agency/PIU on effective project management will be provided. Civil works under the scope of the Project are as follows:
Package No 1: Reconstruction of Sarymsak main irrigation canal: The canal is 15,2 km long with capacity 4.3 m3/sec.
Package No 2: Reconstruction of on-farm irrigation networks: The component includes rehabilitation of the existing irrigation networks with a total length of 20.56 km and rehabilitation of 10.8 km drainage/water collectors.
Package No 3: Demonstration plot for adaptation of water saving technology: Includes development of drip irrigation system for a demonstration plot.
Detailed Description of Actual Services Provided by TEMELSU:
• Detailed Engineering Design Review
o Package No 1: Rehabilitation of Sarymsak main canal with structures;
o Package No 2: Rehabilitation/Construction of on-farm irrigation network with structures, comprising from two (2 lots) as follows:
– Lot â„–1: On farm irrigation network in Karabura and Chimgent rural settlement
– Lot â„–2: On farm irrigated network in Karasai rural settlement
o Package No 3: Demonstration plot for adaptation of water saving technology
• Preparation of Bidding Documents and Assistance in Procurements
• Construction Supervision
• Manage Defect Liability Period
• Preparation of OM&M Manual
• Preparation of socio-economic analysis
• Training and skill transfer
