Description of the Project:
Shemkirçay Magistral(Main) Canal starts with the open canal of 111 m length receiving water from the tail water pond of the HEPP at the toe of the Shemkirchay Dam currently under construction on the Shemkirchay River and this canal continues in the form of a 7819 m long “main transmission tunnel” with 4.00 m diameter. At Km:5+590 of the main transmission tunnel, water is diverted by a 272 m long branch tunnel to the steel penstock of the “Shemkirchay Left Bank Main Canal HEPP”. The penstock shall be of approximately 1800 m in length with 1800 mm diameter. The hydropower plant with 7 MW installed capacity is located at the end of the penstock. Shemkirchay Left Bank Main Canal, starting from the tail water pond of the HEPP, is of 27 km length. At the end of the main transmission tunnel, 1950 m long Shemkhirchay Right Bank Main Canal starts and at the end of this canal the penstock forebay is located. After the forebay this penstock, which is 4300 m long having a diameter of 2000 mm, is leading towards the “Shemkirchay Right Bank Main Canal HEPP” with an installed capacity of 11 MW to be located at the edge of the Shemkir-Gence Highway. After the tail water channel of the power house the channel is divided into two branches, one is the 7400 m long “feeding canal” leading towards the Shemkir Mashin Canal, and the other one is the 11 km long Shemkhirchay Right Bank Main Canal. With this project, it will be possible to irrigate 26335 ha agricultural area in the Shemkir Plain. Furthermore, the surplus water shall be conveyed by the “feeding canal” to the Shemkir Mashin Canal, which is a pumping channel. The deficient water demand of Shemkir and Gence Cities which amounts to 1,3 m3/s shall be also supplied with this project and water shall be pumped to the agricultural lands of Irmashli town that cannot be irrigated until now.

• Advising the Employer on all matters related to the execution of the contract
