As a part of the World Bank’s efforts, supported by the European Union, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, a regional workshop on “Irrigation Modernization in Central Asia” was organized in Almaty, Kazakhstan on November 19-20, 2019.

The workshop participants were policy makers from the relevant Ministries, agriculture and irrigation authorities, scientists and researchers from research institutions and universities, representatives from the local and foreign private sector companies, International technical partners and donors such as the WB, IFC, ADB, EU, FAO, UNDP, USAID, JICA. During the workshop several presentations were made focusing on irrigation modernization, water use efficiency and productivity, irrigation management and priorities, country experiences, private sector involvement in irrigation and PPP practices.

TEMELSU has been involved in several irrigation and drainage projects funded by international financing institutions in all of the Central Asian countries for the last 25 years. TEMELSU participated in this Workshop and was represented by 5 persons who were involved in several of these projects in Central Asia.
