The purpose of the project is to provide drinking and domestic water for İstanbul from Istranca Creeks for a population of 3 000 000. Project area is 1300 km² and a total of 289.5×106 m3/year water can be utilized by constructing 4 dams and 12 diversion weirs. Flows of Istranca Creeks will be conveyed to Terkos Lake and from there water will be pumped to the treatment plants. Three regions for basin development of Istranca Creeks are planned as follows:

Conveyance Lines L= 45 km, D= 2200 mm-2950 mm

L= 26 km, D= 2200 mm-2600 mm

L= 22 km, x1800 mm                         L= 30 km, 800 mm-1200 mm L= 11 km, D= 1300 mm
Tunnel D= 3.5 m, L= 22 km D= 3.0 m, L= 3.9 km D= 3.0 m, L= 3.55 km

– Master Plans
– Feasibility studies
– Foundation investigations
– Investigations for construction materials
– Topographical mapping.

Special hydraulic modelling software for the project is developed by TEMELSU.
