The project aims to relocate the existing Borçka-Artvin State Highway which will be flooded by the reservoir of Borçka Dam. Borçka-Artvin State Highway is the main road which connects East Anatolian Region of Turkey to the Black Sea Coast. The road is within the borders of Artvin Province.
Total length of the road is 19.86 km and the platform width is 12 m.
Along the road, there are:
– 4 viaducts (total length 970 m, and max. pier height is 71.60 m and max. number of spans is 12)
– 10 tunnels (total length 3649 m and max. length of the tunnels is 920 m.)
– 37 box culverts
– 3550 m of retaining walls
Services provided by TEMELSU:
Borçka Consortium was responsible for turn-key construction of Borçka Dam and HEPP. Temelsu was member of the consortium and is responsible for preparation of detailed design drawings and supervision of construction within the consortium. Owner is General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works. During construction of Borçka Dam and HEPP, the consortium was awarded the detailed design and construction of Km: 6+620-26+479 section of Borçka-Artvin State Highway.
Temelsu was responsible for carrying out the engineering services for preparation and evaluation of alignment alternatives, preparation of geological reports and geotechnical studies, preparation of detailed design drawings of selected road alignments, viaducts, tunnels, box culverts, retaining walls, safety measures, lighting and ventilation.
Supervision services during construction were also carried out by Temelsu’s site team.
