Project Name: Preparation of Typical Designs of Service Reservoirs for Drinking Water Supply System

Country: TURKEY

Finance Source:
Government

Tags: Turkey, Local, Superstructure, Design

The object of the job is to prepare typical detailed designs of service reservoirs with 48 different volumes.

The services provided by TEMELSU staff include the followings:
1. Updating and modification of the existing relevant specifications and codes which are currently being used by the Bank,
2. Definition of the hydraulic and structural design criteria for the service reservoirs,
3. Economical comparison of structural systems including pre-stressed and prefabricated construction techniques and also different construction materials,
4. Determination of the economical volumetric ranges of cylindrical reservoirs by making functional and economical comparison of prismatic and cylindrical tanks,
5. Preparation of architectural and structural detailed designs by use of Finite Element Analysis Program SAP-90 and AUTOCAD-12 drawing program and preparing detailed drawings for 23 different prismatic reservoirs with volumes ranging from 50 m3 to 30 000 m3, 4 different cylindrical reservoirs (2×500, 2×1000, 2×2000, 2×3000 m3) and 5 different elevated tanks (50, 100, 300, 500, 1000 m3) for pier heights of 25 and 30 m,
6. Design of valve chambers of 50-1000 m3 volume service reservoirs for collection chamber purpose,
7. Preparation of above mentioned projects for four different seismic zones, and for each zone for four different soil conditions,
8. Architectural and structural design of chlorination units and valve chambers for each reservoir,
9. Preparation of the electrical and mechanical detailed designs of these reservoirs for lighting, heating, ventilation systems and mechanical equipments,
10. Preparation of technical specifications and bill of quantities for each reservoir.

Each of the above mentioned reservoirs has been designed for four different soil conditions and four different seismic zones of Turkey. In dynamic analyses of the reservoirs, statically equivalent seismic force and response spectrum analyses, and especially for elevated tanks, real time-history earthquake analyses methods have been used.
In scope of the project, the detailed design of chemical treatment plants, valve chambers as well as mechanical and electrical designs have been completed. During this massive work, totally 4600 detailed drawing have been produced within two years.
