The unique geo-political location of Azerbaijan provides the country with an opportunity to play an important role in the Asia-Europe transport corridor, provide inter-continental transit services, and serve the turnover of goods in the region.
Located in the northern part of the country, the Baku- Russia Border Road with the total length of 170 km has a proven strategic importance for the development of the economic and trade ties with Russia and East European countries. The road comprises 43 river bridges, 15 interchanges, 90 box culverts and 20 underpasses.
The Preliminary Design and the Feasibility Study will enable the Government of Azerbaijan to apply to EBRD or other funding agencies for a credit that will enable further implementation of road works.
– Digitizing existing 1 / 10 000, 1/25 000 scale maps and preparation of terrain model,
– Road Inventory and Road Condition assessment,
– Assessment of traffic demand,
– Determination of alternative alignments of the road, definition of the technical solutions for improvement, rehabilitation, reconstruction and construction. (Agreed on jointly with Responsible Authority).
– Selecting the most suitable alignment,
– Hydrological studies
– Geological and geotechnical investigations (geological mapping, boring, construction material investigations etc..)
– Economic evaluation and prioritization of the road sections,
– Preliminary design of the highway and structures,
– Preliminary and final design of the interchanges,
– Preliminary and final design of the bridges,
– Preparation of Bill of Quantities and Tender Documents,
– Assessment of the Environmental Impacts.
