Cindere Dam is located on Büyük Menderes River for irrigation and hydropower production purposes. It has a drainage area of 9350 km2. The dam is hardfill type with a crest length of 274 m. Its height above foundation is 107 m. The flow of Büyük Menderes River is diverted through a tunnel with circular cross section and an inner diameter of 5.0 m. The length of the diversion tunnel is 768 m and its capacity is 254 m3/sec.

The probable maximum flood of 3620 m3/sec will pass through the spillway of 4 openings separated from each other by piers. Each opening is equipped with radial gates of 10.00 m width and 12.90 m height. The ogee crested weir in designed for a head of 12.45 m and is followed by a chute channel which is 49.00 m wide. The spillway is on the hardfill dam body.

The powerplant consists of 3 units each with an installed capacity of 9.0 MW and a fourth unit with an installed capacity of 1.5 MW, thus totalling 28.5 MW to produce 88.12 million kWh annually. The area to be irrigated from the dam is 11765 ha on the left bank and 4600 ha on the right, with a total of 16 365 ha.

The revision for the final designs of the dam and the related structures, hydromechanical equipment and detail designs were prepared by Temelsu.
