Two regulators and hydro-electrical power plants namely OÅŸkan and Berkman (called as Ceyhan HEPPs) which are located on the Ceyhan River within the borders of the Province Osmaniye are planned to produce electricity by using a drop of about 21 m between downstream of existing AslantaÅŸ Dam and the Cevdetiye Irrigation Regulators. Catchment areas at OÅŸkan and Berkman weir sites are 14 775 km2 and 14 842 km2 , respectively.
Main structures which are included within scope of the OÅŸkan HEPP are the embankment dam body, spillway structure and power station. The embankment height from thalweg is 13,5 m, crest length is 162 m, spillway design discharge is 1 600 m3/s. Four spans in the spillway structure are controlled by radial gates of 11.50 m length. OÅŸkan HEPP having a total installed capacity of 25 MW is furnished with 3 bulb-type turbine-generator units each having a capacity of 8,33 MW. According to the present status of the existing upstream projects, it is planned to produce an annual energy of 98,61 GWh at the power plant.
Main structures which are included within scope of the Berkman HEPP are the embankment dam body, spillway structure and power station. The embankment height from thalweg is 16,5 m, crest length is 280 m, spillway design discharge is 1 600 m3/s. Four spans in the spillway structure are controlled by radial gates of 11.50 m length. Berkman HEPP having a total installed capacity of 35 MW is furnished with 3 bulb-type turbine-generator units each having a capacity of 11,67 MW. According to the present status of the existing upstream projects, it is planned to produce an annual energy of 132,81 GWh in the power plant.
Engineering services provided by TEMELSU for the Ceyhan Hydroelectrical Power Plants include preparation of final designs, detailed designs and as-built drawings for both projects.
