The Project, Earthquake Safety Investigations of Educational Buildings and Annexes and Preparation of Retrofitting Designs in 2016, is implemented in 9 consultancy contract packages each including different groups of provinces for practical reasons. The Group 9 subject to this contract involves 10 provinces in Turkey which in total cover an area of 89 500 km2 and an approximate population of 3.5 million people. As an indicative size, the work volume for Group 9 covers approximately 350.000 m2 of building area to be renovated and the total number of schools to be studied is around 270.
Due to earthquake risks in the region, all schools to be renovated were investigated against earthquake effects and seismic capacity assessments were carried out. Strengthening against earthquake (retrofitting) had been done upon specific needs of the schools.

Detailed Description of Actual Services Provided by TEMELSU:
Design Services: Preparing as built drawings and application/shop drawings (for renovation works), screening of buildings against earthquake risks (with geotechnical investigations, x-ray investigations for choking reinforcements, concrete core sampling and tests), the vulnerability and seismic assessments of these buildings and their seismic capacity calculations, detailed strengthening and retrofitting designs of these structures, preparing architectural, mechanical and electrical retrofitting projects, preparation of technical specifications, bill of quantities and cost estimates.
