Detailed Narrative Description of Project:
Ilısu Dam located on Tigris River is the one before the last of the system of dams (Cizre Dam, Ilısu Dam, Dicle Dam, Kralkızı Dam; from downstream upwards) within Turkish borders. It has a catchment area of 35 517 km2. The dam is a concrete faced rockfill dam with a height of 135 m above foundation, a crest length of 1820 m (including concrete structures), embankment volume of 24 500 000 m3. Volume of its reservoir is 11 000 million m3. at max. water level and the spillway capacity is 17 988 m3/sec. It has three circular section diversion tunnels having inner diameter of 12.00 m and having lengths of 1099.00 m, 998.00 m and 897.00m.
The main purpose of the dam is the production of 3 833 GWh of hydroelectric energy through its powerplant with 6 units, each with an installed capacity of 200 MW (totally 1200 MW).
The controlled spillway consists of 8 openings; each equipped with a radial gate 13.25 m wide and 6.77 m high. These openings are separated by 3 piers, each with a width of 2.0 m. A chute 158 m wide and 441.41 m long , a flip bucket 13.87 m long and plunge pool 165 m wide and 265 m long will be used to dissipate the energy of probable maximum flood.
Detailed Description of Actual Services provided by TEMELSU:
The project is the implementation of Ilısu Dam and HEPP on a turnkey basis in 84 months from commencement date of the contract with full financing of all the works, by the consortium consisting of Nurol İnşaat ve Ticaret A.Ş. (Turkey), Cengiz İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (Turkey), Temelsu (Turkey) and Stucky Ltd (Switzerland) forming the Civil Works Group and ANDRITZ HYDRO GmbH (Austria) forming the Electromechanical Works Group.
Temelsu will be responsible for the preparation of the detail designs and as-built drawings for all the civil works of the project.
In addition to the above mentioned activities Temelsu, in cooperation with Stucky, will execute the proper overall coordination, in particular they will implement the following components of the project management:
– establish and maintain a common network program to monitor the progress of both parties by critical path
method for the information of the Owner,
– co-ordinate performance on site among all Parties of the consortium in close cooperation with DSİ,
– co-ordinate progress reports for the whole project to be submitted to DSİ,
– submit to the other Parties all the information obtained from DSİ as far as the Other Party’s Scope of Work may
be affected.
