The project has been supported by World Bank Loan at all stages and the Consultancy Services comprise the main aspects following:
• Annual review of GDRS’s Public Investment Allocations,
• Implementation of Core Program of Drainage and On-Farm Development Works selected from DSI’s
list of completed and on-going irrigation and drainage schemes, supervision of construction and
monitoring the performance of the implemented ones.
The rehabilitation works were as follows:
• Subsurface pipe drainage in 275,000 ha. area,
• Rehabilitation of salinity and alkalinity in 78,000 ha. area,
• Farm roads in 170,000 ha area.

Consultancy Services provided are given in detail below:
a) Annual review of Public Investment Allocations of
GDRS and establishment of a Computerized
Management Information System
b) Design and Implementation of Core Program of
Drainage and On-Farm Development Works;
i) Review of all the information, data and documents related to already completed subsurface drainage systems.
ii) By cooperating with the Client and considering the annual public investment allocations available, annual investment programmes were prepared.
ii) Preparation of preliminary and final designs for subsurface drains where required.
iii) Preparation of preliminary and final designs for farm roads where required.
iv) Preparation of rehabilitation requirements where required based on the detailed investigations.
v) Based on economical comparisons between surface and subsurface drainage alternatives, preparation of final and detail designs for the selected alternatives.
c) Supervision of construction
d) Preparation of completion reports and as-built drawings for all the sub-projects separately.
e) Training the Client’s counterpart personnel at all stages of activities.
