Several alternatives were studied for assessment of water and land resources potential of Kura Basin; irrigation of Göle, Ardahan, Hanak Plains; and energy production in Kura Basin as well as in Çoruh Basin by transferring water from Kura Basin. The selected alternative covers realization of ; Altınbulak and Karasu Dams for Göle Plain irrigation, Durançam Dam for Göle Plain irrigation, Beşikkaya Dam and Güleç HEPP, irrigation of Ardahan Plain with water of Beşikkaya Dam and Hasköy, Dağevi, Ardıçdere and Çataldere Weirs, Tosunlu Dam and Harmanlı HEPP, Akyürek and Ekşinar Weirs, Ardanuç I-II HEPP, Ardanuç Weir, Burmadere Dam for Hanak Plain irrigation, Köroğlu Dam and Kotanlı HEPP, Kayabeyi Dam, Akıncı HEPP, Gürtürk Dam and HEPP. Investment cost of the project is 846.05 million USD, income/expenditure ratio is 1.57 and internal profit rate is 17.61%. The proposed facilities in this project are:
– 9 Rockfill type with concrete lining upstream face
– 6 HEPP, total installed power capacity 760.52 MW
– 4 Plain irrigation with 38 157 ha net total irrigation area
