The Environment and Climate Action Sectoral Operational Programme (ESOP) is prepared by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization (MoEU) with the participation of related institutions and bodies. The general objective of the program is to improve the quality of environmental protection and life of citizens by addressing the fight against climate change better and by harmonizing the EU with the environmental and climatic action.
The specific aim of the project is to establish an urban wastewater treatment plant for the municipal wastewater of Şırnak, which will meet both Turkish and EU standards in order to prevent the eco-logical balance in the receiving body, the Nerdüş Creek from further damage and to rehabilitate the ecological balance in the creek.
Supervision of Works under scope of the Project are as follows:
• Wastewater Treatment Plant (FIDIC Yellow Book): Design and build of approximately 12,000 m3/d average flow rate capacity wastewater treatment plant,
• Construction of approximately 1600 m, 600mm diameter collector.
Description of Actual Services provided by TEMELSU:
• Administrative, technical and financial capacity building for the WUD and PIU of the Şırnak Municipality;
• Modernisation of the WUD and provision of the necessary training and support for institutional sustainability;
• Technical assistance to the WUD/ PIU by practical training including project management, and management of the WWTP after construction,
• Technical Assistance to WUD/PIU in performance of leakage detection and Non-Revenue Water reduction programme;
• Preparation of Sludge Management Plan to assess the final usage alternatives of the sludge produced at the wastewater treatment plant;
• Contract management and supervision for construction of wastewater treatment plant in accordance with FIDIC Yellow Book.
